iNaturalist October Celebration Native Plants of Southwest Florida
Since we started in May 2019, we have 26 Observers, 2564 Native Plant observations. This project is designed as a way to track the diversity of Native plants in our area.
WANTED More Observers & Sightings and we are willing to bribe you. We have prizes to give for the following categories. You have the rest of month to contribute your sightings to our PROJECT PAGE.
Winners will be announced in November.
Categories & Prizes
- First time documenting a native blooming plant in an iNaturalist study
$10.00 Starbucks gift card
- Find as many colors as possible of rainbow (ROYGBIV)
$35.00 Native Plant Membership Renewal (Rebate)
- Find a native example of each: tree, bush, wildflower, vine
SWFL Nursery $25.00 Gift Certificate
- Find 1 plant that each pollinator would love: bats, butterflies, and bees (extra credit)
3pack Butterfly Host Plant Stationary Cards by Kim Heise
- Find a "sun-lover" "shade-lover" and/or "marsh/water-lover"
Crew Trust package, including dry bag, hat and a 1-year membership
- Record the highest number of sightings from 10/07 through 10/31

Rules:
Open to FNPS Members only, Everyone is encouraged to record sightings all year, however for October if you are employed at a natural area your sightings will not count for the October Contest. Naples Native Plant Board members are also excluded.
